Nothing Happens Until The Meeting Is Set

Nothing Happens Until The Meeting Is Set

It is amazing to think back and reflect on the time it took me to write my first book. I started January 1, 2016 and I finished in sometime in late April 2016. I am not a writer by any means and never have been. It is a good thing there are publishers like Richter Publishing.

It took a chain of events in my life to make it happen. This is the theme of this blog and the synopsis of the my book; "Nothing Happens Until The Meeting Is Set"

The book takes you back 40 years and gives some details about my life. But the majority of it, 26 years is on my work experiences, startup's I've been involved with and product and business development.

As I write I am on a mission to establish my niche, what I am good at and what I have years of experience in. It's not until this last year that I am even thinking about it. It is a chain of events that occur after the launch of my second product; Cosmo Finger Guard. Sometime after I am introduced to the team at AsSeenOnTV-Pro a Direct TV Response Company it was arranged for me to meet the Original Shark Tank Kevin Harrington.

Because of this I ended up reading a book Mr. Harrington co authored called Key Person of Influence with author Daniel Priestley. It is a powerful read and made perfect sense to me. It showed me the steps I needed to identify my intellectual property. This triggered  my writing journey.

As I write I am looking for elements that are characteristic of a key influencer. At first I see a pattern in sales, business development and entrepreneurship. But what is unique about that? What do I specialize in? I had to finish the book to see the big picture. Then go back and make the connections and edit.

After 26 years of working for fortune 500 companies, my own startups, and developing products I see I'm always connecting people, business and products. It all starts with a meeting. In fact nothing happens until the meeting is set.

Now I am now able to credit myself to over 25,000 sales meetings. I am not just talking about meetings to sell a product or service. I am talking about meetings where I connect a person with a business or a product.

I call this "Arranged Meetings" I have been specializing in the specifics steps it takes to make the meeting happen. For over 7 years I have been working with a group of Company’s called Prairie Technology Alliance. During my start there I had already established the steps to "Effective Techniques for Arranging Meetings". I taught the sequence at several workshops. But I never viewed it as a niche or specialty. Selling skills require these steps, but I cut out the closing. I was hired to develop the interest and arrange the meeting. The six company's I represent today make the sale after my meetings. They are the subject matter experts for their service.

All of the jobs I have had including my own were training for me to become the best at meeting people, the best at making acquaintances and the best at arranging meetings of introductions.

In my new book I take you through sales journeys. I look back at how during high school summer jobs I was paid to arrange meetings. It all makes sense to me now. I am extremely happy to publish this new book and thank all the mentors who have helped me. I hope they get a chance to read it so they can see the profound effect they have on people.

Now I am a mentor for SCORE. I give back the same way I received help and encouragement. It reminds me of a famous quote by Mr. Zig Ziglar

"You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want."
